Oral lesions - A serious problem...
Oral lesions are a distressing problem that can significantly
affect the quality of life of patients.1
Painful oral lesions come in a variety of forms, from multiple
small ulcers to more severe conditions such as oral mucositis.
Oral lesions can be caused by medication, disease, radiotherapy,
chemotherapy, oral surgery, traumatic ulcers caused by dental
braces and dentures and ageing.
Oral mucositis is defined as soreness, inflammation or
ulceration of the mouth lining.
It can often cause intense pain and discomfort, which can affect
the sufferer’s ability to eat and drink. This can lead to
dehydration and nutritional deficiencies, in some cases resulting in the
need for a nasogastric tube, gastrostomy, parenteral feeding,
and in some cases, hospital admission. 2–4
Gelclair® - A simple solution...
Gelclair® provides a simple, highly effective way to relieve the
pain of oral lesions.
It forms a bio protective coating that adheres to the oral
mucosa to provide almost instant comfort and effective pain
relief and potentially improve a sufferer’s ability to eat and
drink.2
Gelclair® is a liquid gel and should be used 3 times daily or as
needed, diluted in a glass with 3 tablespoons of water and
rinsed around the mouth for at least 1 minute, or for as long as
possible to coat the tongue and inside of the mouth completely.
If no water is available, Gelclair® is safe to use undiluted and
can be easily applied directly to the mouth with a sponge or
swab.
